What is Geoscan?

Since Kobelco’s excavator remote monitoring system (Geoscan) was first introduced, a common question we get through our branches is “what exactly is it?”

So what is GEOSCAN?

Geoscan is a system fitted to Kobelco Acera Geospec excavators from 7 tonne and up that allows the business owner or operator to access machine data remotely. This system allows the owner to track fuel levels, service schedules, working hours and even the excavator’s real time location. All of this through a simple application on your smart phone or your computer.

The Geoscan system is ideal not just for businesses with large fleets and rental companies where equipment is deployed across multiple sites but also owner operators who need to access this information while they are away from the worksite.

“Tracking and managing your one machine, or entire fleet is now becoming critical to running a successful business,” said Managing Director, Ken Bennett.

“This system allows our customers to plan maintenance in advance and help make decisions to run their machine at optimal productivity and get the best return on investment.”

The Geoscan system is standard on Kobelco’s Acera Geospec series machines 7-tonne and over, with five years of free system access.  They are very user friendly and have an enormity of benefits including:

Working status: Improve efficiency by reviewing the breakdown of operational hours. Owners can also gather historical data to identify trends and create better working plan for the future.

Location data: Know where the machine is now and where it has been in the past. Owners can view the exact location data on a web map or Google Earth.

Alarms: Instant notification by e-mail of critical fault alarms as well as operational alarms like low fuel level, maintenance due, machine being moved out of the set map area or the engine started outside a set time period.

Maintenance: Keep up to date with filter and oil change intervals and when the next service is due.
